President Nicos Anastasiades is back in Cyprus after a three-day visit to Qatar. The President accompanied by a strong delegation of well known businessmen went to Qatar seeking to bring investments to Cyprus.
During the visit Cyprus and Qatar signed several Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding. These relate to cooperation in the field of education, the legal field, the energy sector and cooperation in the area of desalination and waste water treatment and reuse.
It is reported that prospective business deals have been discussed including investments in the areas of marinas, several leisure projects and energy development for oil and gas. The President of Qatar’s state investment fund is scheduled to visit Cyprus within February to promote a big state investment. The government’s initiatives to attract investments to Cyprus are very welcome and needed for the financial recovery of the island.
